Australian Disability is a charitable organisation dedicated to fairness, dignity and equality for people living with disabilities.

We were founded in 2012 based on the principle that discrimination and stigma

but also the culture towards disability have to change and be reshaped and

owned by people living with the daily effects, positive and negative, of disability.

It is only through an authentic conversation about disability affairs, only then is a

dialogue created and the catalyst for change ignited and given an avenue to

ignite social advancement.

Our core values include:

Fairness which involves creating a society based on equity of opportunity for all people with disabilities, carers, family and friends.

Equality for all people with disabilities, carers, family and friends by working at a societal, community and governmental level to create systemic and meaningful change to achieve equality in all aspects of their lives by advocating for proactive and long-term sustainable changes, by creating a more accessible and inclusive society for all who live in Australia while alsoacknowledging the unique challenges presented by Indigenous Australians, Culturally and Linguistically backgrounds.

Dignity for All enshirined through all services and activities we undertake as an organisation respects the inherent human rights and treats all people with the same tolerance and respect that anyone would expect if the disability was not a factor in their life.

Accountability and Transparency – all services and activities we undertake as an organisation respects the inherent human rights and dignity for all people with disabilities, carers, family and friends.

Who We Are

As an organisation in its infancy and the changes at the societal level, with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme but the cessation of a dedicated Disability Discrimination Commissioner, it seems as if we are at the crossroads in this phase of our civil rights movement.

Sadly there is a looming divide based on pure economics, in the era where being "disabled" is a dichotomy between binge on welfare or being an objectified motif (symbol) of inspiration porn.

We the disabled now have the vehicle to reclaim and remould the narrative of the "disability" identity, as articulated by Graeme Innes AM, chair, Attitude Foundation Limited.

4 To provide education about disability and related issues with the hope that it will reduce discrimination.
5 To establish an online community to encourage more interaction between disabled and able-bodied people.
